Throughout a career that lasted from 1801 through 1843 – with just ten retired years in-between – Betsy Ross worked to design over 338 flags which were adopted by at least 25 countries worldwide before her death in 1836. One of these flags is now known as the “Betsy Ross flag” (also named by George Preble) or “Stars and Stripes” (now our flag).
